CTube!
Q: Where are these stations
coming from?
A: The video broadcast listings in CTube! are
literally from all over the planet. Additional information
about channels can be obtained via the channel menu.
Q: Will more stations be added?
A: Yes, as stations come online or they are submitted
to us they will be added. The nice feature of CTube!
is that every time you run the program it will automatically
load all new stations for your convenience.
Q: How come I can't watch MTV, CBS, WB, etc.
on CTube?
A: Unfortunately, because of US entertainment
and copyright laws concerning commercial advertisements
and more, the industry is strictly prohibiting this
type of Internet transmission. As for the future...
stay tuned.
Q:
If you experience this dialog/error, please change your
settings in your Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware or Security
related software to allow Active X controls with Internet
Explorer.
The following software has been
identified that interferes with CTube! and should be
modified to accept ActiveX controls :
Qwik-Fix Pro - http://www.pivx.com/qwikfix.asp
Please send email to support@eastbaytech.com
for additional help.
Q: When I try to view a station it has this strange
looking box on it...
A:
This screen means it is loading the proper codec or
software to show your channel, wait until you see the
dialog below, and accept from AOL, your video will then
play shortly thereafter.

Q: Whenever
I try to watch some stations I see the dialog below
:

A:
This means the provider/broadcaster has limited the
number of people who can view the station at once. Try
back later when there may be less traffic.
MediaGrab!
Q: What are the entries
with the newspaper icon and how do I download (these)
files from Usenet?
A: Items listed in MediaGrab! with the newspaper
icon are files found on Usenet news groups. These files
are like e-mail attachments, they are files attached
to messages. To access or download files from Usenet
news you must have a server configured that is provided
by your ISP (Internet Service Provider), most ISPs have
a dedicated Usenet server address they will give you
if you call support.
Q: What does "message has been removed" mean?
A: This error message means that MediaGrab!
tried to download the file you requested but not all
of it was on the server. This happens from time to time
because of the way messages/files are cycled.
Q: How can I download a set of files?
A: To download a set of files from your results,
single-click the first file, hold the shift key down
on the keyboard and click the last file. After selecting
all files, simply click the download button on the toolbar.
Q: How do I know what file type is best or which
to choose?
A: Please visit this page for a layout of file types and players that support each
type.
Q: What kind of content is available in the MediaGrab!
search?
A: We have an internet-spider that searches the
web constantly for media related pages and files. One
of the many great reasons to use MediaGrab! is to find
obscure and hard to find media material that's not easy
to find on more popular or typical search programs/engines
that cater to questionable media content.
Q: I have used programs like Napster and Gnutella,
how is MediaGrab! different?
A: Napster and Gnutella related programs or "file
sharing" programs are all based on users logging in
to a network and copying each others files off of each
others hard drives. MediaGrab! however, searches a database
of media found on web pages, ftp sites, and Usenet news,
not other users logged on to a network. MediaGrab! is
very similar to a web page search engine like altavista.com
or yahoo.com, but instead of returning websites from
a search, it returns media files.
iTube!
Q: Whats the difference
between iTube! and CTube! ????
A: iTube is for Macintosh and CTube! is for Windows
operating system.
IM Speak!
Q:
The program used to be called "IM SpeakEasy!" why did
the name change?, Is it the same program?
A: Due to trademark restrictions we have changed
the name to IM Speak!, the program is identical in every
way to IM SpeakEasy!
Q: How do I assign a voice to a particular buddy?
A: After choosing the messenger program of choice
with the toolbar, simply highlight the buddy in your
buddy list (left pane) and choose a voice by highlighting
it on the right pane and then clicking the save toolbar
button. (You can also press the test button on the toolbar
to hear the test voice)
Q: What other things can I use IM Speak! for
besides "instant message' programs?
A: IM Speak! can also speak text from text documents,
speak anything copied to the clipboard (Ctrl+C), and
also provide visual aids for the visually impaired while
speaking.
Q: What are "translation dictionaries" and how
do they work?
A: Translation dictionaries have words in them
that are converted or translated into other words before
they are spoken. For example, when chatting, many users
use the LOL acronym that means "laughing out loud".
If IM Speak! spoke LOL it would sound funny, so the
translation dictionary converts LOL to "laughing out
loud" and speaks that instead. The translation dictionaries
can be used for dialects, acronyms, joke conversions
(English to redneck) etc., or anything else you can
dream up. Translation dictionary files can also be shared
with other IM Speak! users.
LiveWire! Broadcast!
Q: What is the difference
between 'live broadcasts' and 'streaming audio and video'?
A: Live broadcasts are broadcasts from radio
stations that are broadcasting live content on the Internet
at the same time they broadcast into the airwaves. The
nice thing about receiving live broadcasts via the Internet
is that you can listen to land based radio stations
from all over the globe without having to be there.
Q: I know of a station that broadcasts on the
Internet but LiveWire! doesn't carry it, how come?
A: We have made the best attempts to gather as
much content as possible. To request specific stations
be added, please email us at support@eastbaytech.com
or use our mail form.
Q: I have a website that carries streaming media
links and or events, how can I add them to LiveWire!'s
search database?
A: Any links can be added via the LiveWire! Broadcast
application or our mail form.
Q: How come some stations come up as video broadcasts
while searching but they aren't really video when I
play them?
A: Some radio transmissions display a logo or
animation while the audio plays, these are technically
classified as video because they display video while
they play.
Q: What is the difference
between regular and advanced search?
A: The regular or default (non-advanced) search
searches for keywords in the database. The advanced
search actually searches the full location and name.
For example if there was a video clip in the database
called "Richard Nixon in Washington, Firearms Meeting"
and you did an advanced search for "fire" it would come
up because the word "fire" appears in "Firearms", in
a regular (non-advanced) search this result would only
have come up by searching "Firearms" or one of the other
full words in the sentence.
UsenetGrab!
Q: What is the Usenet
and how can I learn more about groups?
A: The Usenet can be thought of as a very large
discussion bulletin board where people can post and
read messages (keep in mind that the Usenet is not a
chat room, it is not real time, it is simply a message
board/system).
Messages can be read by joining or subscribing to a
group. The group name usually describes the nature of
messages discussed in the group. For example alt.pets.ferrets
is a group that discusses ferrets as pets. Now that
you understand the nature of groups and messages you
must understand that to join a group to read or post
messages, you must connect to a Usenet server. The server
(normally) carries or mirrors groups from all around
the world. Some servers also contain some groups that
others do not. (Groups may vary from server to server)
If your ISP does not provide you with a Usenet server
address, we highly recommend www.easynews.com as a pay subscription service for
their Usenet servers.
Located here is also a link to frequently asked questions about the
Usenet and more.
WebGrab!
Q: I'm trying to
retrieve pages from a site and WebGrab! can't grab them.
A: Some webpages protect their content and do
not allow people to download their images, etc. It is
also possible the image you are trying to download does
not exist on the destination web server. Please also
feel free to e-mail your problem to our support team
at support@eastbaytech.com with the web address so it
can be tested.
General
Q: When I
try to run my software it shows the dialog below...
it used to work correctly!

A: Reinstall
the application in question, either through uninstalling
another program or deleting items on the computer, the
application cannot find components it needs to run.
